Two-prong outlets, and what you can honestly do about them

Swapping in a three-prong outlet without one is common and it is not safe: the plug fits, but nothing is grounded. There are two honest options. Can I just replace my two-prong outlets with three-prong ones?
Not by itself. Without a ground wire in the box, a three-prong outlet only looks grounded. Code allows two ways to do it properly: run a new grounded circuit, or protect the old circuit with a GFCI and label the outlets No Equipment Ground. A tester will reveal the difference, and so will a home inspector.
Why does my kitchen trip the breaker when two appliances run?
